Clinics

Clinic Review by: Jessica Alexander

In this issue we feature a report from a young lady who attended our Holiday Volleyball Clinic held at Beyond The Baseline on December 23rd. Jessica arrived early and got to spend a couple of hours working with JoAnna Papageorgiou in a one-on-one setting.

Hi, my name is Jessica Alexander and I'm 14. I live in Iowa City & am playing 15U Navy for Xplosion VBC. This is my second year playing club and I started as an Outside Hitter this fall for City High Fresh Red team.

I had a great opportunity through QCVolleyball to meet JoAnna Papageorgiou. I came to her mainly wanting to see how I could become an amazing player just like her. I really wanted to get my hitting technique perfected. She showed me all the skills that I needed to do that. I think I did about 1,000 swings with tennis balls - sore arm but it was worth it!

JoAnna and Jessica

What I really liked about JoAnna is that she had a lot of patience and was always happy. She has a great spirit. If I didn't understand or do it exactly right she didn't give up on teaching me the correct way. She video taped my approach so I could see what I was doing wrong and right. That was really helpful.

It was an amazing experience working with her and I learned a lot!

Thank you Jessica for attending the clinic and for sharing your story! Please keep us posted on your prpgress.
