QC Jocks
Quad Cities, USA

The Quad Cities has been in dire need of a one stop shop for local jocks to find information on anything and everything under the sun, sports related. By acting as a conduit to local sports information I hope the content of this website drives personal fitness goals, active family lifestyles, and generates local commerce by increased participation of our citizens in getting out and getting involved.

When I moved here in June of 2004, I found it quite difficult to track down all the sports information I needed for each member of my family. After myriad phone calls and dead end voicemails, I couldn't suppress the idea that it should all be much more simple than what I was experiencing. It was this sense of frustration and a personal want for details on sports events in my community that served as a catalyst for the construction of this site.

Now, this community of life long residents and transient newcomers will all be equally "in the know" about how to become active in the QCA. From beer league teams and adventure racing to horseshoe pitching and disc golf tournaments, it will all be here on QCJocks.com

This website is near and dear to my heart. I am inspired by people who define themselves by their ACTIONS and not their words. Most athletes are people of action. I look forward to serving you by providing a chance to expand your sports interests and be in on ALL the action!

Cheers,
Wen

Mike Rangel has been studying and training athletes for over 20 years. As a “High Flyer” at Long Beach State on the men’s volleyball team in the 70’s, Mike was recognized as someone who truly understood jumping . Mike, through his own research and efforts, increased his own vertical jump from 36” to an unheard of 42” in a short 6 month period. Results that to this day are remarkable.

As a basketball and volleyball coach at Edison High School in early 80's, Coach Rangel continued to refine his techniques for achieving 1st, 2nd, and 3rd step quickness along with explosive jumping. The results again were amazing turning average to good athletes into champions. “ Its about creating a consistent training program, with proper technique and constant repetition that delivers measured results,” said Rangel. “ The coaches, the parents, and the athletes clearly see the increased performance in a short period (Usually 2-3 weeks). More importantly, the athletes gain immeasurable self confidence through this difficult but rewarding program. “

PlyoCity had its official birth 10 years ago when Mike started training his own son Steffin. Fast forward and PlyoCity today is the largest plyometric training company in the country with over 60,000 athletes trained, and with over 70 franchises in 15 states across the U.S. Mike is still driven by one passion…. RESULTS!

Mike Rangel is the Exclusive trainer to Karch Kiraly, Mike Lambert, Misty May and Kerri Walsh!

Dig for Kids is committed to providing youth in low-income communities with increased opportunities for athletic and academic achievement.

Dig 4 Kids was founded in the spring of 2000 by Professional Beach Volleyball Player and Olympic Gold Medallist, Eric Fonoimoana. The foundation is a 501 C 3 non-profit for public benefit corporation and has a federal charitable tax-exempt status. It was established after Eric participated in many volleyball clinics and learned of the large disparity that existed in resources for youth athletic programs in disadvantaged communities. He felt a strong desire to "equalize" these circumstances in these disadvantaged areas. With the recent success of the foundations first pilot program conducted in Carson, California and Eric's success in winning THE GOLD, the dream of Dig 4 Kids has become a reality and the organization has gained both national and international sponsorship and recognition for its efforts.

The Great River Tug Fest is the only tug-of-war across the mighty Mississippi River or any other moving body of water in the world. For two hours barge traffic, pleasure boats, gambling, and paddle boats yield the right of way to a 2,400 foot, 680 pound rope that stretches between IL and IA. Teams of 20 tuggers grip the rope, the crowd counts down, and dirt starts flying! Festivals are held on both sides of the river in Port Byron, IL and LeClaire, IA - topped off by the "Greatest Fireworks Display Over the Mississippi River"
